Setup Guide - ELT
Prerequisites
You need a Sprout Social API token. Weld only reads from Sprout Social — it never writes back. The token must give access to at least one Sprout Social customer account, otherwise the connection cannot be created.
Step 1 - Create your Sprout Social API token
- Sign in to Sprout Social with an account that can manage your account's settings.
- Go to Settings → Global Features → API → API Token Management.
- Generate a new API token for Weld.
- Copy the token.
Step 2 - Create the connection
- In the Weld app, navigate to Connections and click + New Connection.
- Search for Sprout Social and select it.
- Enter the destination schema name of your choice. This name is used to identify the connection in future syncs.
- Paste your API Token.
- Click Connect to validate the token and establish the connection.
Step 3 - Data To Sync
Select the tables you wish to include in the sync. You can view the schema, remove columns or hash sensitive information.
If your token has access to more than one Sprout Social customer account, Weld syncs all of them. Every table except message and cases includes a customer_id column that tells you which customer account a row belongs to.
The connector offers 6 tables:
- Messages and cases —
message(posts and inbox messages, with their network, text, hashtags, tags and the team member who sent them) andcases(customer care cases with their status, priority, type, queue and assignee) - Account setup —
profile(the social profiles connected to Sprout Social),group(your profile groups),taganduser
The tables are independent — selecting one does not bring any other along with it.
Step 4 - Configure sync
- Select how often you would like the data to sync.
- Provide a unique destination table name.
The first sync loads all the messages and cases Sprout Social has for your account, so it can take a while if you have a long history. After that, each sync only picks up new messages and recently updated cases. profile, group, tag and user are small and are refreshed in full on every sync.
Weld will take over from here and commence syncing data from your Sprout Social account.
