Other / Directly in My Warehouse
With Weld’s Other / Directly in My Warehouse option, you can continue using your existing SQL or BI tools for transformations without changing your current workflows.
Weld won’t manage transformations internally—instead it takes care of ingestion, scheduling, and reverse ETL so you can integrate your pipelines into end-to-end automated workflows seamlessly.
Key features
- Keep using your existing warehouse tools (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake)
- Use BI and modeling tools like Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, or Looker Studio
- Weld powers ingestion & reverse ETL around your transformations
- Coming soon: Webhook integration to trigger workflows automatically
Prerequisites
- A Weld account connected to your data warehouse
- Access to your warehouse and the transformation tools or scripts you already use (SQL, BI, or custom)
Setup
Step 1 — Create a Weld account
If you haven’t already, create a Weld account and log in to your workspace.
Step 2 — Select transformation tool
- In the left sidebar, click Settings → Account Settings → Account
- Under Transformation Tool, select Other / Directly in my warehouse
Step 3 — Model data in your warehouse
- SQL workflows: Write transformations directly in your warehouse (BigQuery, Snowflake, etc.)
- BI workflows: Use tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, or Looker Studio to build dashboards and data models
Weld ensures all upstream data is ingested and synced so your warehouse always has fresh data.
Modeling options
Some of the most common options when modeling directly in your warehouse or BI tool:
- BigQuery: Run SQL transformations directly in BigQuery
- Snowflake: Use Snowflake’s SQL features for transformations
- Power BI: Create data models and transformations
- Microsoft Fabric: Use Fabric’s data engineering and modeling features
- Looker Studio: Build transformations and relationships directly in Looker Studio
Benefits
- Keep using your existing tools and workflows without disruption
- Weld automates ingestion and reverse ETL, reducing manual coordination
- Future webhook support will enable fully automated triggers for external tools
