Other / Directly in My warehouse

With Weld’s Other and Directly in My Warehouse option, you can continue using your existing warehouse tools and workflows without changing your current SQL or transformation processes. This ensures Weld won't try to manage transformations internally, and instead leaves it to your SQL or BI tools.
At the same time Weld handles the surrounding automation, including ingestion and reverse ETL, so you can integrate your pipelines into end-to-end workflows seamlessly.

Prerequisites

  1. A Weld account connected to your data warehouse.

  2. Access to your warehouse and the existing tools or scripts you use for transformations, SQL, and modeling.

Step 1 - Create a Weld account

If you haven't already, create a Weld Account and log into your workspace.

Step 2 - Select transfrom tool

  1. Click on the 'Settings' bar on the left side bar, navigate to 'Account Settings' then click on 'Account'.
  2. Select the transform tool based on how you would like to model the data in your warehouse. In this case choose Other/directly in my warehouse.

Step 3 - Model data in your warehoouse

  • SQL workflows: Write transformations directly in your warehouse (BigQuery, Snowflake)
  • BI workflows: Use tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, or Looker Studio to create dashboards and models.

Weld ensures all upstream data is ingested and synced so your warehouse always have fresh data.

Modeling options

Here are some of the most common options for modeling your data directly in warehouse or visualization tool:

  • BigQuery: Run SQL transformations directly in BigQuery.
  • Snowflake: Use Snowflake's SQL features for transformations.
  • Power BI: Create models and transformations.
  • Microsoft Fabric: Use Fabric's data engineering and modeling features.
  • Looker Studio: Build transformations and relationships directly in Looker Studio.
