Authorization links

An authorization link lets someone else connect an account to your workspace. You create the link in Weld and send it to the person who owns the account, for example a client's Facebook Ads or HubSpot. They open it, sign in to that tool and grant access. The connection then appears in your workspace, ready to sync.

They don't need a Weld login, and they never share their password with you.

Useful for:

  • Agencies setting up data for clients.
  • Consultants connecting accounts they don't own.
  • Teams where someone else owns the source account.
  1. Start setting up the connection: click Data Sources → Add Data Source, choose the tool and choose Create new connection.
  2. Give the connection a Name (1) and open the Share Authorization Link tab (2).
  3. Click Create Authorization Link (3).
  1. Click Copy next to the link and send it to the account owner.

The link shows the date it's valid until. Weld lets you know as soon as the account owner has completed the authorization.

You can also create a link for an existing connection, to have it reauthorized, from that connection's Share Authorization Link tab.

Open Settings → Connectors and click the Authorization Links tab (1). Click New Authorization Link (2) to create a link for any connector.

The list shows each link with its connector and when it expires. Open a link's menu to Copy Authorization Link again, or Delete it so it can no longer be used.

Security

  • Each link belongs to one connection in your workspace. The person who opens it can authorize that connection and nothing else.
  • Links expire. Create a new one if a link runs out before it's used.
  • Delete a link you no longer need.

For people who need to work in Weld themselves, invite them as members with a role instead.

Troubleshooting

The link has expired. Create a new link from the same connection and send it again.

The account owner signed in with the wrong account. Open the connection's Share Authorization Link tab, create a new link and send it again to have the connection reauthorized.
