Our story

From data stack to AI foundation.

Weld started in Copenhagen in 2021. Our four founders were early at Pleo, where they built the company's data infrastructure from scratch and learned firsthand how hard it is to turn data into value. Dozens of disconnected tools, data trapped in silos, and pipelines that need constant attention just to keep running.

So we built the platform we wished we had: one place to move, model, and activate a company's data, managed for you and built to be trusted.

Now AI is fundamentally changing how data work gets done.

AI agents are beginning to take on work that previously required entire data teams: connecting sources, building and testing models, monitoring pipelines, answering questions, and turning insights into action. Work that once took weeks can happen in hours, and eventually run continuously.

But for agents to work autonomously, they need a foundation they can rely on. Data that is complete, fresh, and accurate. Context that helps them understand what the data means. And guardrails that ensure they operate within the boundaries each company sets.

That's what Weld is built to provide.

Our vision is to make data work autonomous.

A world where AI agents handle the complexity of moving, modelling, and activating data, so every company can focus on what it wants to achieve.

Weld is building the trusted foundation that makes this possible.

What we believe

Making data work autonomous. Six principles we build by.

  1. 01

    Data work will run itself.

Connecting sources, building models, watching pipelines and acting on results is work agents can do. They will do more of it every year, and eventually do it continuously.

  2. 02

    Autonomy needs a trusted foundation.

Agents can only act on their own when the data under them is complete, fresh and accurate. Building that foundation is our job.

  3. 03

Context is part of the data.

Rows are not enough. Agents need to know what the data means, how it connects and which numbers count, served right next to it.

  4. 04

    Guardrails make autonomy safe.

Every company sets its own boundaries. Agents work inside them, and what they do can always be traced.

  5. 05

    Your data stays yours.

It lives in your warehouse, in open formats, with SQL you can read. No black boxes and nothing you cannot take with you.

  6. 06

    People decide what matters.

Agents take on the complexity so teams can focus on what they want to achieve. People set the goals, and the work gets done.
